The Photobook Cafe emerged from Shoreditch’s renowned photo lab and darkroom Rapid Eye which was established in 1996. Over the years Rapid Eye expanded their services to include studio space, classes and workshops, and in 2019 they launched the Photobook cafe bar and gallery space.
These portraits were taken during TONER, a study of Xerox Photography through performance, live curation and zine making curated by Matt Martin . The exhibition explored the process of performance and live curation through music, photography and zine making through the photocopier. Selections from the shoot were printed and then output on a roll of fax paper that spooled out of a slot in the wall and onto a pile on the floor.
